  1. How to get rid of spiders?
I have seen a few in my apartment and my daughter has huge ones in her home (she has children). Does any one know of a green way to get rid of these without using harsh chemicals? Thanks—She also has a pet
I forgot to mention that I’m deathly afraid of them.
If my daughter got a lizard, her pitt bull would eat it.
I appreciate the info on green ways to eliminate them. thanks

  2. If you have a betta fish and a guinea pig and you need to bomb your house…?
    what do you do??

how would you protect them?? my first instinct is to put them outside for the allotted time.

we have ants and spiders in our house and they need to go.

    please help??
i figured that!! mostly i was worried about the fish cuz he isn’t moved that easily.

i already had plans for the piggie!!

    • If your guinea pig is in a cage, here are some natural ways to get rid of ants and spiders. Ants- baby powder. I Spiders- Put borax in shollow lids on floor and under things. Also baking soda. Eucalyptus leaves in closets, drawers, where ever. Use lemon pledge on window sills and around door frames. Mix 5 tablespoons of a natural soap and 5 tablespoons essential oil, can get from art and craft store, to a quart of water. Put in spray bottle..

  3. How to get rid of bed bugs?
Me and my fiance recently found out we have a major infestation of bed bugs. We called the local exterminator. They we giving us an estimate of around $1,000. There is no way we can afford that on our pay. Is there anything we can buy at Home Depot, or other stores that can help us get rid of the little bastards? Also what could I do in case they made their way into my computer?
Oh, by the way, I do have 2 cats. So I need something that will not harm them.

    • There is a great DIY trap that is shown to be as effective, if not more, than the leading extermination stuff. http://lancaster.unl.edu/pest/bugs.shtml I hope this helps! remember, bed bugs cannot crawl up metal, so you might want to invest in a high metal frame for your bed, instead of wood. Another way to help repel them is through using essential oils. Citronella, rosemary, sage, mint, neem, and lemon are all good repellents, and smell good. dilute with water and sprinkle on your mattress, and linens. (caution, some oils can stain). Although, if you want to play nasty, i recommend diatomacious earth. It is the crushed shells of diatoms, small silicon shelled creatures, so tiny that they do not cut or harm humans or pets, but one swipe against a bugs exoskeleton and they will dehydrate and die. sprinkle it around the edges of the room on the carpet, and especially around your bed. this will also kill spiders, roaches, and every creepy crawly that steps foot onto it.

  4. How to get rid of spider veins on legs?
While I was pregnant with my first baby, I can already see some appearances of spider veins on my right leg. I thought that it would just dissapear after I gave birth. But still it’s there and it really look embarassing.

    • Joanne Gruners,
There are various options that might be of interest for you. The main cause of Spider Veins is lack of proper circulation.Improving your circulation through diet and exercise is an effective method of removing them. Apply an over the counter cream to the affected area, try to find one with Vitamins B, E or C. All of these vitamins have been suggested as having positive effects on a variety of skin and vein conditions. A gentle skin massage with essential oils will help remove spider veins by improving the blood circulation in and around the affected area. Just be sure to avoid the veins themselves. Choose cypress or geranium with a carrier oil of sunflower or almond. Such oils have been suggested to eliminate spider veins as well as other skin conditions such as cellulite and stretch marks. Sclerotherapy is a safe and minimally painful procedure that comes with few to zero side effects and consists of a specialist injecting a salt water solution into each apparent vein. It removes both Vericrose Veins and Spider Veins by turning the vessels into scar tissue which eventually dissolve and become unnoticeable. Cosmetic lasers have come a long way since their invention. They have become one of the most effective ways to treat spider veins as well as many other skin conditions. You might also consider discussing this with your dermatologist/doctor to find out about other various options.

  5. How to kill spiders without harming my pets with poisons?
We just moved into a house and we have noticed a lot of spiders and spiders are my one thing I can’t stand in my home. If I find one in my bedroom it will make it to where I can’t sleep. Anyways, I have two small dogs so I don’t want to spray poison and hurt them. How can I get rid of the spiders without harming my pups.

    • I’ve found that citrus oil (and apparently other Essential Oils) kill spiders on contact. I bought a 100% citrus air spray room freshener from Lowe’s and a few spritzes kills spiders and centipedes within 20 seconds. It does make them freak out and run like crazy though until then, so just be warned. Not sure how you can prevent them from entering, but that’s a pet-friendly way of killing them if you see them.

  6. How do I get rid of spiders without spraying?
My house is slowly being overun by spiders. I love the little guys the webs are getting too prolific! I have kids and pets so any idea about how to deter them without using chemicals would be great, thanks!!!

  7. How can I get rid of spiders in my apartment?
I will spray any damn chemical anywhere I just need them gone I am so terrified of spiders and bugs. I just hate creepy things, period! What can I use to keep them out?

    • 1) Raid.
Bomb the place regularly, leaving every room alone for at least four hours, then airing when you come back.
      2) make a mixture of lemon dish soap and water in a spray bottle; treat with it your door and window sills and frames. I also spray raid there for good measure.
      3) but yourself one or more of those aroma stones which you can use with essential oils. Citronella, lemon, jasmine (this last is expensive!) are particularly good against spiders.
      4) if you can source them, buy Osage Oranges: one quartered and with every quarter in one corner of the room is apparently very good against spiders.
      5) buy ultrasonic devices; they must be of very good quality, possibly with changing frequencies.
      6) conkers on the window sills (exterior) and whatever balcony you may have have been known to help.
      7) a cat is good; but he may bring you the dead spiders to show you that he contributes to the household.
      8) a geko is even better, but not everyone likes them and in an apartment is a bit of a problem.
      9) if you have wood furniture and can source the product, lemon pledge is said to be very good.
      10) keep the place clean and uncluttered, hoovering often; spiders will not like spaces without pray, and uncluttered open spaces will be more dangerous for them to move around.
      11) systematically kill every spider unfortunate enough to be found in your place; if you put the outside, spiders will come back .

      Please consider this:
      1) all these measures (except 11 of course) must be preventative. You want to deter the spiders from coming in your apartment in the first place. For example, you must bomb the place with Raid before any spider shows up.
      2) no one of these measures alone guarantees success; not every device is effective against every spider, etc. .
The more of these measures you use, the better it is.

      Best luck to you.

  8. how do you get rid of grasshoppers/spiders in the basement?
I live in a basement apartment, and every spring/summer there are grasshoppers and spiders all over. I’ve tried putting down this poison stuff called larvalure and it helped a little, but it didn’t solve the problem. Any ideas?

  9. How do I get rid of Spiders without using Bug bombs or some type of bottle of repellent?
I am an arachnophobic I’m scared shitless of spiders, For the past week I find at least 1 spider every 2 days and it bugs the hell out of me because I cant sleep if I find one… I saw before someone answered some type of nut or something that keeps them away. Please if someone can just jot down a few things that can help it would be very appreciated… thanks.

    • I have a major arachnophobia myself and these are the tips that I found to keep them away:

      1) mint or penny royal – supposedly they hate the smell, so mix some essential oil with water and spray it around windows and doors

      2) conkers – they seem to repel spiders, some people suggest putting a few in every room

      3) vinegar mixed with water – again it smells nasty to them, so wipe the windows or floors with it (its a natural disinfectant too!) and spiders should stay out
