  2. Some kind of vaginal infection, please help? May be TMI (Females only)?
I’ll try to make this a brief as possible. I’ve been having excessive green/off yellow vaginal discharge since just after i started my period. I am currently 19 and a virgin. I have gone to a gyn and was told I had GBS which rarely can actually cause infection. Was prescribed ampicillin which helped ease the symptoms but then came right back before I even finished the 7 days. I then went back with a sample of all my discharge in one day (significant amounts like a tablespoon a day and green, something that would come out of your nose) I was then told all my symptoms matched to BV and was given metronidazale for 10 days. which again only helped ease the symptoms. I also took this with rephresh pro b and vaginal gel, are yogurt once a day as well. Btw I was tested for trichomonas, yeast, bv and everything under the sun they said and all that came back in the lab was GBS. When my discharge is fresh it has a fishy odor, when it drives however it has a strong sour scent. My first attempt at sex was too painful (like a burning knife twisting around) Though I believe this is mostly due to a developing case a vaginismus from all the exams and ongoing inflammation.

    -Significant green/off yellow discharge
    -Fishy/sour odor
    -No pelvic pain
-No painful urination. Though I did have a horrible UTI as a kid. Was hospitalized.
    -Normal periods

Anything else you wanna know just ask. But I’m becoming desperate. I’ve tried rephresh, apple cidar vinegar baths, epsom salt baths, yogurt. I’m $hit out of ideas :(
GBS-Group B strep. It’s a bactera that usually lays dormant in most of us in the gi track and vaginally but colonization is fairly common in pregnant women and can affect the baby if left untreated. Of course if that’s really the cause, me being as unlucky as I am would be one for it to actually cause infection :( However the antibiotics prescribed did almost nothing for me as noted above. So confused but thank you for all your support :) It’s nice to know people can relate.

    • Sounds like BV to me as I myself have had recurring issues with it and it sucks! I’d go see another doctor if your not getting any answers from your current doctor.I really have never even heard of GBS.What is GBS anyways if you don’t mind me asking? Buy a Vagisil screening kit from the store to check your Ph levels.Hope this helps and Good luck =)

  3. I seldomly get a lump on my vagina..?
its not too big but it kind of hurts. I only get it a few times a year, so hardly ever but I was still wondering if I need to get it checked out.. I am a virgin so I don’t no how it could be any disease.

  4. Pregnant with recurrent yeast infections HELP?
I have been eating yogurt and watching my sugar intake. I haven’t been wearing tight clothes and I have been treating them over the counter. I am 12 weeks pregnant and have almost run out of options! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • Antibiotics will not kill a yeast infection. Yeast is a fungus, therefore the remedy of choice would be an anti-fungal.

With that many recurrent infections, have your doctor screen you for bacterial vaginosis. It’s a pretty common pregnancy ailment caused by the changing ph in the vagina that permits certain bacteria to grow. One of the symptoms of BV is actually recurrent yeast infections, which is why a lot of women can go years with BV and never know it, they just think they have a yeast problem. I had BV at about 13 weeks pregnant.

Have your doctor do a vaginal culture for BV. If it comes up +, he’ll prescribe you metronidazole to get rid of it. If it’s not BV, he’ll likely give you a 1-time dose of Fluconazole antifungal to rid your body of yeast.

You should also consider having your partner treated. Men can “catch” yeast infections from their wives, harbor the fungus and have no symptoms or issues, and then “pass” the infection back to their spouse during sex. That may be what’s happening to you, and you’re just re-catching the same infection over and over. See if your doctor can give you an extra dose of Fluconazole for your husband to take, or have him go to his primary doctor for an RX.

In the meantime, skirts without undies are great for around the house. Consider sleeping “au naturale”, and if you have an itching attack take a warm bath with some epsom salt. You can also put plain unsweetened yogurt directly into your vagina. It’s harmless, but it’s not going to cure a really bad infection, but it will help with any itching/burning, help keep the yeast from growing too crazy, and provide a nice cooling sensation.

You may also want to get a probiotic from the vitamin store and start taking that daily (it’s safe for pregnancy). There’s a kind they have called acidophilus pearls, which can actually be used as a vaginal suppository instead of yogurt or OTC treatments (BTW, monistat 7 works better than 1 or 3)

  5. Will an Epsom salt bath give me a yeast infection?
Will Epsom salt bath give me a yeast infection like some bath products do?

    • Not necessarily.
It will change the PH of the water though, so be careful
They are safe however for use on skin

Other bath products contain so many chemicals in them…they just arnt good for vaginal health.

I dont want to say yes or no, cause it could always happen, but the risk is quite low

  6. HPV information. accurate answers only pls?
    Miserable need answers pls help?
    So miserable, pls help?
Is it possible to spread hpv (plantar wart on toe) to one’s genitals? For 3-4 months, I have experienced burning/stinging sensation in vaginal and anal area. There are even 2-3 raised bumps or skin on the vaginal lips. I have been to a few different doctors and have been tested for ALL STD’s and bacteria/fungal infections etc. All came back NEGATIVE however the nurse said my vaginal PH balance was higher (7) than it should be. I have been so miserable since and no one will take me seriously to figure out this problem, since I am unemployed and have no insurance unfortunately. This has led me to believe I spread the hpv virus from my toe to vagina while bathing. Is this possible?

    • Plantar warts (HPV-1) grow only on the foot and are transmitted by walking in areas barefoot where others are infected, so, no, the virus did not transmit to your genitals unless you scratched them and transmitted the virus to a scratch or sore on your genitals. Any any event, the doctor would have seen a plantar wart on the genitals when doing exams.

Since this symptom is appearing in the vaginal AND anal area, my inclination is to look at a couple of things that may be causing the problem. First, I would closely examine the kind of panties I was wearing, switch to 100% cotton, and wash all of your panties in something like All-Free detergent, using white vinegar or baking soda in the rinse cycle. Rinse 2-3 times. Some detergents now have perfumes/fragrances that will cause a lot of irritation, particularly lavender and other floral scents. Also avoid any fabric softeners. They can create the same problems. Follow the same procedure with all of your towels and wash cloths.

Next, I’d take some warm baths in Epsom salts or apple cider vinegar (organic is best). Soak for 15-30 minutes.

After you are out of the bath, spray or wipe on the affected areas with a cotton ball a 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide mixed with water. Try this frequently for a few days–people often see IMMEDIATE results with this home treatment.

If that does not work after 3-4 days, buy a box of green tea, heat a pint of water, add 3-4 green tea bags, and put in the refrigerator to chill. Using a cotton pad, apply the green tea to the irritated areas.

The sources will describe some other possibilities for your symptoms and some home remedies that may give you immediate relief , especially since the doctors have found no medical reason for the issue. I’m betting one of the remedies will work for you!

      Hope this helps!

  7. Red, Itchy, and they look like cuts!?
on the vaginal area…. it looks like cuts and it comes after my period only and goes away a few days later…Is it a yeast infection or and STD or what?

    • The “itchy” gives hints to yeast. The PH changes around the time of a females period. I use to have yeast infections around my period when I was young. Watch your diet just before and after that time of month. Cut the sugars and alcohol and smoking to (if applicable) The “cuts” may be where you are scratching (especially at night)…buy some AVEENO oatmeal bath soak and take good book w/ you. An even cheaper remedy for yeast irritations is epsom salt. Either one poured into a warm tub of water should do the trick (don’t forget the book) If problem persits~call your Gyno

  8. Urgent Cyst Questions! Help?!?
Does anybody know all the different types of cysts that can form on the leg? If so, please help soon!

  9. personal problem girls help me please?
ok so my vagina has been stinky i was thinking it was probably just like that because i got off my period but that was on tuesday that i got off i keep taking showers and wash very well down there i shave down ther to but the smell just keeps coming back my vagina usually never stinks so i really need help

    • Luckily, you can get rid of vaginal smell without antibiotics. You can cure the smell in a matter of days by using treatments that are found in the comfort of your home. Take a hot bath in Epsom salt water and you will notice a huge difference. The hot water will soothe away any irritation while the salt will actually work to kill the infection that is causing your body to have this horrendous odor.

Vitamin C: As you may know, Vitamin C helps to boost the immune system of the body by increasing your white blood cell count which kills the infection that causes the foul odor.

Garlic: Same as yogurt, garlic will restore the natural pH levels of the vagina. A lot of women use this method even though they don’t have bacterial vaginosis. Yes, it’s that powerful.
