  1. how to ease the pain and swelling of a cyst?
two years ago i got a cyst on my tail bone, and all they did was drain it.
now it just recently came back, and i have to wait to get it removed until
my appointment. i’ve tried advil, ibuprofen and epsom salt baths.
is there anything else that i can do that might reduce the pain and swelling
until my surgery? please please please help.

    • for swelling try ice or a heating pad my mom had cyst before and when shed want a little relief shed have my dad poke it with a pin to try and drain it but i wouldn’t recommend it

  2. Can epsom salt pop a pilonidal cyst?
I have one & it hurts really bad . Im gonna go to the doctors but I want to know can epsom salt pop it & make it go away ?

  3. Yesterday I noticed a hard lump on my lower inner labia?
that looked like an open sore. Now it has kind of flattened out and the sore looks bigger. It doesn’t hurt unless I mess with it, and it itches a little – mainly after I use the restroom. It’s freakly looking though. My doctor said negative on the herpes or genital warts and bartholin cyst, and said to keep an eye on it. Any ideas?

I’ve taken a few epsom salts baths, which may be why it isn’t the lump it was yesterday.

    • I had one of these once, and my doctor recommended putting cortisone cream on it. It really helped it heal faster.

  4. How do I heal my infected nose piercing?
Ive had it in for about 1 month and a half now and its infected. I have a red pimple looking bump growing around it and im pretty sure it might be a keloid? I cant take it out because it hurts too much and I can only push it up so far to clean it. My friend said to use epsom salt and water and spray it on. I just need some help on how to clear this up. Thanks

    • This red bump is a cyst/boil which can also get infected and be filled with pus.

You know when a piercing is infected if yellow or green fluids or pus is coming out. White and clear discharge is normal and part of the healing process.

You need to clean it with sea salt soaks 2 times a day until the piercing is fully healed ( 2-3 months )
This will treat/avoid infections and help the piercing to heal.

How to do : Warm water (8oz) + non iodized salt (1/4 teaspoon) mixed in a cup. Soak the piercing in for 10 minutes, 2 times a day. Use a q-tip to clean around the piercing thoroughly, rinse with water and pat it dry with a paper towel.
Non iodized salt is cheap and easy to find.

Do not touch the piercing, twist the jewelry during the day, play with it, change it or take it out ( not even once) until it’s fully healed.

It will clean up if you follow the above. You had to do sea salt soaks 2 times a day from day 1 to avoid this, but I guess that your piercer did not inform you and you didn’t not research about the aftercare and healing.

  5. How do you get rid of a cyst?
I have a cyst in the cheek tissue beneath my bottom lip. It’s a greyish black color and it feels like it’s filled with some sort of liquid and a couple hard lumps. It doesn’t hurt but it’s gotten a little bigger since a month ago. How would this go away without having to go to the doctor??

    • It depends on the type of cyst, really.
Generally they can take weeks or months to heal. And even after that point, you may still have a small lump under the skin (a sort of sac) that may refill or grow again later on. Those require surgical removal.

If it forms a head, it’s not a cyst, it’s a boil and it’s generally safe to drain them on your own.
If you think it’s infected, see your doc.

If there is no head, do NOT try and squeeze it. You won’t be able to get anything out, and you may cause it to get worse or scar.
You could see your doc about it. There are some options for short-term relief, like cortisone shots to immediately (but temporarily) reduce the size.

You could try making a paste of water and epsom salts. Apply it to the lump and cover it with gauze or a bandaid or something. Leave it overnight.
Try it for a few days. If there is something in the lump that can be drawn out (and then drained), this is a good technique for making it happen more quickly. The epsom salts make a good, safe and cheap drawing agent.

  6. It safe to use epsom salt in the bath with an infected bartholins cyst?
When I was younger and had eczema I used epsom salt andf it helped loads…
I’ve told my sister to use it on her cyst, but I just want to make sure it’s actually safe before she does it?

  7. How to treat interdigital cyst for my dog?
So today we just noticed a pinkish, swollen lump on one of my dogs toes and I have been looking online on what this maybe. I came across interdigital cyst. The treatments were to soaked it in warm water with epsom salt. I don’t have epsom salt, would the common iodized salt be good enough to use as a substittute? Also, it said to give oral antibiotic. Would something like amoxycillin be just fine? Please help as to what I should do and go on about treating this swollen lump. This is something new and he never had this before. I don’t really know how he could have gotten it.

  8. Can someone help me with the problem I am having?
I am 27 weeks pregnant, and about 3 days ago, a bump came up between my vagina and my anus and it is VERY painful!! It will bring tears to your eyes! I can barely walk and it hurts when I sit certain ways. I have tried Epsom Salt in the bathtub. When I sit in the tub, the pain subsides, but when I get out, the pain comes back. Taking Tylenol is not helping with the pain. What do you think it is or what can I do to help the situation?

    • You may have a cyst (not cancerous) that is full of fluid. The fluid inside of it causes pressure which then causes the pain. The warm baths will sometimes bring it to a head so that it will drain which will make it feel better. But sometimes a doctor will have to drain it for you. They can get very large. If you start to run a fever or the pain gets unbearable you need to be seen by a doctor asap since they can occaisionally get infected. Otherwise I would call your OB/GYN and let him know what is going on so they can look at it and take care of it. It is also possible that if it is closer to your anus it is a hemerrhoid. Either way, let your dr. know so he can decide what needs to be done. Good luck and congratulations on your little one!

  9. Help my dog has these swollen bumps between two toes?
We have been soaking them in Epsom salts and now it seems he is limping where b4 he wasn’t ?

    • Sounds like inter-digital cysts. In many cases the cysts will burst and subside after about 48 hours. But if the cyst is infected, antibiotic treatment or surgery may be needed.
Always inspect dogs paws after a walk and wash any mud and dirt off.
If the fur on the paws is long. keep it trimmed short.

  10. How long should I leave Epsom salt on a cyst?
I have a cyst in the crease of my leg and it’s really painful, I read somewhere that Epsom salt mixed with water to create a paste helps to “bring it to a head”. So I did that and put it on with a bandaid. However I can’t find any information on how long I should leave it on for. Any answers would be helpful. Thanks.

  11. My cousin popped a small cyst & after it got swollen & a big lump now , what should we do ?
We use Epsom salt for the swelling but it hurts him a lotand its under his armpits .. Please answer quick !

    • Put some antibiotic ointment on it – like neosporin ointment. If it continues to ooze or hurt or gets worse in the next day or so, take him to the doctor.

  12. How do I get rid of a cyst on my vagina?
I have a cyst right next to my clitoris. It’s very painful and I’m not sure how to get rid of it. What should I do?

    • Hot compresses of Epsom Salt and Slather that thing with Neosporin. Mine grew to the size of a golfball, move quick.

  13. Detox body just by changing diet to get rid off acne?
I read about liver flushes somewhere on the internet. By doing a step by step procedure with items like epsom salt, grape fruit, olive oil, etc, you can cleanse your body. I am very active in sports, so I can’t fast. Can you cleanse your body just by eating clean foods (natural unrefined foods) ?

    • Those detox flushes will not cure acne, nor will changing your diet. Diet has been shown to have little or no effect on acne.

Beware of using any products for acne unless they have been prescribed or recommended by your doctor. People make all kinds of suggestions about the best thing to do to cure acne. Some cures I’ve heard include putting oatmeal, honey, lemon juice, tea tree oil, cucumber, vinegar, milk of magnesia or toothpaste on your face. Practically every cosmetics company and company that makes personal care products makes something that is a “sure cure” for acne. If we think about this, and use some common sense, we have to come to the conclusion that there is no quick or easy cure for acne, because if there was it would be well known and doctors would be telling everyone about it.

Numerous companies make a lot of money persuading people to buy products that at worst will make the acne worse, and at best may help some people a little. Often fewer products are better. People often make their acne much worse by using too many products. There really is no quick fix for acne. Don’t spend a lot of money on products just because their ads say that they will cure acne. Your doctor is the best person to ask for help, and he or she may recommend some prescription medication or non-prescription treatment that may be suitable for you..

There are some very simple and basic things you can do that cost nothing. Keep your face or any other area affected by acne very clean. Any mild antibacterial soap will help with that. Rinse the area well to remove all soap residue. Drink plenty of water – it really does help to clear up acne. Eat a nutritious diet and get enough sleep. A healthy life style will make a difference. Try to reduce the stress in your life – stress contributes to acne, so also probably the more you worry about the acne and focus on it, the worse it will be.

Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer.

  14. How do you get rid of a cyst?
I have cyst at the bottom of my back up above my buttocks. I’ve had it lanced and that didn’t get rid of it. What are some things I can do at home to get rid of it?

    • Try a product called Boil Ease. It can usually be found at your local pharmacy such as Duane Reed, CVS, Walgreens, etc. Depending on where you are located. Apply it to the area, and also sit in a bath of Epsom salts. Covering the area with a bandage after applying the Boil Ease will help it to drain also.
