  1. What foods should I eat regularly to reach my maximum height?
    I’m 14, a girl.
What foods can make you grow taller? Are there any that stunt growth?

    • Insulin dominates other hormones (sex hormones & human growth hormone) not allowing them to be produced at optimal levels. When you control carbohydrates, you control insulin.

For optimal health, I advocate a low carb way of eating. As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn’t gain weight, no matter the calories, because insulin (the ONLY fat storage hormone) isn’t activated.

I personally believe in using fat as fuel instead of carbohydrates. Fat is totally benign in the absence of insulin. There aren’t enough calories in vegetables & fruits to fuel the body, if you get enough calories from carbs to fuel the body, then you maintain an almost constant high insulin level with roller coaster blood glucose levels. I recommend fats from butter, coconut, olives, avocados, nuts, fish & meats, chia seeds & flax seeds.

When you restrict higher carb, lower nutrition foods, it becomes much easier to greatly increase vegetables in your diet. Change your mindset just adapt it to low carb -
      replace bread with lettuce
      replace pasta with cabbage
      replace rice with cauliflower
      replace potatoes with brocolli

High carb levels trigger insulin which unbalance other hormones, promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones and allow sex hormones (testosterone in men) & human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean muscle will be gained even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase muscle mass with high HGH levels.

Carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) trigger insulin, the fat storage hormone. Protein triggers the fat burning hormone, glucagon.

Highly nutritious foods you should consider: avocados, sardines, sprouts, spirulina, paprika, turnip greens, mustard greens, kale, garlic, brewers yeast, raw almonds, ground flax seeds & chia seeds.

  2. What healthy foods can you eat on a no solid diet?
My mom just had surgery on her mouth and cannot eat any solid food for 6 weeks. She’s been eating mostly soups, but need ideas for healthy things she can eat with protein & vitamins to keep her full.

    • be sure you are using homemade soup and blend them or use a lot of veggies and drink the broth and freeze the veggies for later.

Use also fresh homemade juices with a juicer

Add to your smoothies (made with organic milk, soy, rice, oat or almond milk in addition to fruit supplements like nutritional yeast (torula..these yellow flakes are the best source of b vitamins there is. also add things like wheat germ, lecithin (get this stuff at a health food store), good protein powders, bee pollen and so forth

Add spirulina or alfalfa powder or wheat grass powder to tomato or v 8 juice and she will get nearly all her vitamins.

The book dining in the raw has tons of healthy homemade raw soups. I had a great one today..it is so tasty and so healthy

mix in a blender or better yet a vitamix one avocado, 2 pounds (I used one) of raw spinach, 2 garlic cloves, 1/2 cup of parsley, braggs amino acid to taste (you could substitute soy sauce) and juice of two lemons..instead of parsley dill can be substituted..this is brimming with nutrition and after surgery she needs good nutrition

If she can handle it a good and tasty bean dip can be made

blend 2 cans drained beans (like kidney, pinto or black etc) with one tsp each of paprika, cumin (the secret ingredient), oregano, and garlic powder. also one onion and 4 tbs of apple cider vinegar (hot peppers optional but I would be sure they are mild as it might hurt), also 2 cloves of garlic..heat the beans and add to the other ingredients and blend and then add one cup of cheese.

This is so tasty even without breads, crackers or veggies. Thin it out a little with the liquid from the beans or a little water if too thick for her.

both the raw spinach soup and the bean dip are so good I have taken them to potlucks and they are a hit.

This bean dip is ultra nutritious in addition to being nutrtious..I often leave out the cheese as I don’t think cheese is that nutritious but I do sometimes use organic cheese and this certainly adds protein..both the bean dip and the raw spinach soup are very nutritious.

this bean dip can definitely be made thin enough to drink and it will really be good for her to feel full

If you are mostly giving her canned soups this is very likely not healthy for her unless maybe they are health food store soups or homemade

Also freeze juice and make juice Popsicles and thaw slightly and make slushie type drinks for a cold treat

  3. is it okay to take spirulina without drinking any water?
I usually take two pills of spirulina during a meal. I build up some saliva in my mouth and swallow it. I usually don’t drink any water while i eat, so that’s why i am wondering if water is necessary with spirulina.

    • As long as you have some food with it you don’t need any water with it.

If there are no instructions on the container you can assume that you take it with food.

  4. How did they make the blue smartie without using atrificial colours?
I thought there was no naturally blue food, so how do they do it?
Blue berries arent blue on the inside, there purple.
and this has fuc.k all to do with space, thats the category yahoo recomended and I couldnt be bothered to find the proper one.

    • “Blue Smarties were re-introduced in the UK in February 2008, using a natural blue dye derived from the cyanobacteria spirulina” from the wikipedia page on smarties

it is a natural dye that comes from algae

  5. How can I improve my health without spending loads of money?
I already have pretty good health, for example I go to a gym regularly and buy my own health foods. But this does tend to be quite expensive at times. What can I do to save money but improve my health?

    • For optimal health, I advocate a low carb way of eating. As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn’t gain weight, no matter the calories, because insulin (the ONLY fat storage hormone) isn’t activated.

Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) trigger insulin which can store the calories eaten into fat. The more protein the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

Highly nutritious foods you should consider: sprouts, spirulina, paprika, turnip greens, mustard greens, kale, garlic, brewers yeast, raw almonds, ground flax seeds & chia seeds.

      Paprika – 1 Tablespoon = 20 cal = 71% DV Vit.A – 8% DV Vit.C – 10% DV Vit.E – 14% DV Vit.B6 – 9% DV Iron & others way too many to list.

Brewer’s Yeast Powder – Two tblspns. provide a whole lot of nutrition! 158% RDA Chromium – 90% Selenium – 88% B2 – 80% B1 – 50% Copper – 50% Niacin – 40% B6 & others way too many to list. It tastes peanutty to me. I have been adding it to sesame butter, a lil raw honey, coconut cream & coconut oil, powdered whey and tastes like peanut butter to me!

Chia seeds sound so expensive but 1# will make 10# food – Amazon.com has couple lbs. for $16 shipped to you. I buy in bulk (24#) from getchia.com for $5.83# with free shipping.

      Chia seeds – 3.5 oz is nearly 500 calories, half calories from fat (high in Omega3 fatty acids) 38g fiber 151%DV & 16grams of COMPLETE protein for 6grams carbs & 63% DV Calcium – 95% Phosphorus – 23% Zinc – 9% Copper – 108% Manganese.

Faux tapioca – 2 cups of water, 5 scoops of low carb whey protein powder, stir together & add cup of chia seeds, after they have started to absorb the water, add in 2 cans of coconut milk & sweetener if you like and mix it all in. Can be eaten after an hour but will be better tomorrow. Cream a pkg. of cream cheese into a can of pumpkin and add to the faux tapioca for an even more nutritious pumpkin pie pudding.

Ground flax seed (2-4 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, sweetener, cinnamon & mix in a raw egg – let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 minutes. Suggested for daily fiber needs.

I have been making a “porridge” every day lately as suggested by Dr.Mercola. A low carb whey powder & water, I add ground flax seeds, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, coconut milk, tahini (ground sesame seeds) & raw egg. All seeds & nuts are raw & soaked to germinate them.

      Flax seed – 3.5oz – 534 cal – 65% calories from fat (high in Omega3 fatty acids) for 2gram carb – 27g fiber 109%DV – 26% DV Calcium – 64% Phosphorus – 29% Zinc – 61% Copper – 124% Manganese – 36% Selenium – 98% Magnesium – 32% Iron – 110% Thiamin – 9% B2 Riboflavin – 15% B3 Niacin – 24% Vit.B6 – 22% Folate – 10% Vit.B5.- 39% Potassium

Raw nuts are living and full of the energy of life and should be capable of building a tree. Roasted nuts are dead & they may still provide some nutrients, but none can compare to the nutrients and enzymes from a live food.

Unfortunately, raw does not necessarily mean living.

For example – Commercially sold almonds are now required to be pasteurized turning a live food into a dead one. You can not sprout an almond that has been irradiated. I buy my almonds direct from growers off ebay. I get 20# for less than $3# including shipping.

      Almonds- 3.5oz – 575 cal – 72% calories from fat for 10gram carb & 26% DV Calcium – 48% Phosphorus – 21% Zinc – 50% Copper – 114% Manganese – 4% Selenium – 67% Magnesium – 21% Iron – 14% Thiamin – 60% B2 Riboflavin – 17% B3 Niacin – 7% Vit.B6 – 12% Folate – 5% Vit.B5.- 131% Vit.E – Potassium 20%

      Brazil Nuts- 3.5oz – 656 cal – 85% calories from fat for 4gram carb & 16% DV Calcium – 73% Phosphorus – 27% Zinc – 87% Copper – 61% Manganese – 2739%

  6. Is it wrong to feed my aquarium fish fry (xipho) only spirulina algae?
I’ve red that Spirulina is very good for all fish because it makes them stronger and more resistant to possible diseases. I’ve noticed that they eat it and enjoy it quite well, and they grow very fast. Is it ok to feed them just that until tey are big enough for puting them along with my other fish?
BioGeek I forgot to mention that I give them spirulina tablets for people, not those made especially for fish. I grind them (using 2 spoons) into a fine powder.

    • Without knowing what species I cannot give a definitive answer.
Ingeneral, Spirulina is an excellent food. Some fish fry will need additional protein sources. In general, most fish will do well with Spirulina alone, but to be safe, add a nice shrimp or fish meal based protein food for extra nutrition.

Any herbivorous fish can live a long life with just a Spirulina based diet even as an adult.

Spirulina has no special properties that makes fish any stronger or healthier. It is a good diet in that is offers a lot of nutrients and is easily digested by most fish. Based on your description, it sounds like they are thriving on this diet, so if you want add a protein mix once per week, but you will probably be fine changing nothing.

The human grade spirulina is even better. I know when I used it for jellyfish culture I used a source from a health food store as it was cheaper than the aquaculture version.

  7. What foods can I eat to boost my immune system?
I am trying to be healthy and I want to know if there are any foods I can eat to help boost my immune system so that I don’t get sick anymore.

    • First off the best thing to do is change your diet which will help the immune system.

During a cold what you should do is boil water add plenty of ginger root as it is a great immune system boost add some honey that helps as well and kills of bacteria and lemon for vitamin c as an immune boost.

Buy raw organic unfiltered unpasteurized apple cider vinegar buy from Bragg it has the mother of apple inside. Add a table spoon of that in 8oz glass of water before breakfast and after each meal if you want after 2 times a day will be good. Dont make it to strong that it burns the throat a little burning is fine. If you dont like the taste warm the water and add raw honey.

Garlic is good as well. Chop up garlic into fine pieces in order to avoid bad breath and strong taste add the small cut pieces in a glass of water and chug it without biting into it. Your breath wont be as bad and you wont make people suffer :p

Coconut oil pure organic virgin and cold press you can find at costco for cheap brands like carrington farms or Nutiva. 3 tabke spoons before each meal is recommended or cooking with it

Food high and antioxidants so berries like blueberries Goji berries which are very commended , highly recommend to buy raw organic cocoa beans or cocoa nibs. Its what they make chocolate with just at its raw form so this has over 600 antioxidants and loads of magnesium which is said to be the most important mineral. Because its not such a nice taste grind them up either buy hand or in a coffee grinder and mix it in juice.

**Bare in mind that these things i have told you have much more benefits than just immune boost.

The super foods to help boost your immune system would be stuff like wheatgrass juice or spirulina and chlorella powder. There are SO MANY i dont know where to begin as they all have their own properties and benefits. Just eat healthy like loads of fruits which give great vitamins and antioxidants try eating as many raw veggies as well and lay low on meats as it does not help with our immune system because foods like meats, fried foods, sweets and processed foods acidify the blood and lowers your body’s pH making it vulnerable to get sick as your cells are not able to live properly in an acidic environment only at the right alkaline environment which is done by eating fresh raw fruits and veggies especially leafy greens with chlorophyll like i mentioned with wheatgrass. Being alkalized helps our body avoid getting really sick while acidic is bad and makes bad cells like cancer thrive. Buy urine pH strips at the pharmacy. Early in the morning urinate on it and check your pH you should be around 7 ish if your at 6 not so good unless a high 6 if your 5 you should really consider changing your diet.

Im studding in health and nutrition i know more than this but it has to come to mind so ill try to think of them im only naming those that are most common to find there are foods that are great for health but hard to find like yerba mate, Guanaba, noni, ginseng isnt so hard i believe other than tea but you need to find pure forms.

      **** EDIT:

Oh yes growing sprouts are great remember to buy organic seeds and grow them at home its very easy look it up its takes a couple of days like alfalfa sprouts, broccoli sprouts ect.. These are high high high in minerals because there at there sprouting stage where all the necessary requirements to grow are still fresh and vibrant so you acquire all those benefits. Do not consume dairy if you do buy raw even organic goat is better but raw not the usual pasteurized as there are no benefits and i will not go into detail with dairy as i will leave you a twice as long response.
